CNC Eastman and Operator – Composites Technician

Summary

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program, set up, and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mills (and routers) to kitand airbrush fiberglass & foam cores

  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360), and CAM files (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion, or NX) to produce accurate components to spec.

  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, composites technicians, and systems integrators to ensure fit, function, and manufacturability of parts.

  • Select appropriate tooling, feeds, speeds, and fixturing strategies for high-accuracy work on composite materials.

  • Maintain CNC equipment, tools, and workspaces in a clean and safe condition.

  • Perform in-process quality checks and post-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools.

  • Contribute to ongoing process improvements in CNC workflows, fixture design, and composite part accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Required:

  • 3+ years of experience as a CNC programmer/operator at a high-rate boat building factory

  • Strong experience with CAM software (Fusion 360, Mastercam, NX, or equivalent)

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T

  • Comfortable working in a startup or fast-paced R&D environment

  • Strong attention to detail and self-motivation

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to identify differences between different fiberglass types and designs

  • Preferred:

  • Familiarity with 5-axis machines and multi-axis toolpath strategies

  • Prior experience in the maritimecomposite manufacturing industries
