Job Description:

Join GDIT and be a part of the team of men and women that solve some of the world's most complex technical challenges. The CDAO Advana team is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their efforts in the DC area.

Advana is the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office's (CDAO) enterprise-wide, multi-domain data, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) platform that provides all DoD military and civilian decision makers, analysts, and builders with unprecedented access to enterprise data, tools, and capabilities.

Duties include:
  • Executes systems engineering activities supporting Advana across Unclassified and NIPR, Secret and SIPR, and Top Secret and JWICS enclaves.
  • Develops system designs, requirements, and integration documentation that support enterprise mission execution.
  • Defines functional, technical, and cybersecurity requirements and translates these into specifications, access-control personas, interface definitions, and engineering reference materials stored within SharePoint, Confluence, and GitLab repositories.
  • Performs systematic analyses and trade-off evaluations that examine performance implications, architectural constraints, cybersecurity effects, and operational dependencies to generate data-driven engineering recommendations. Supports technical reviews and design validation activities by assessing compliance with system engineering baselines, interface controls, and documented cybersecurity artifacts.
  • Coordinates with platform engineers, data engineers, cybersecurity specialists, development teams, and vendor representatives to resolve integration challenges, clarify requirements, and document system impacts.
  • Develops system diagrams, requirements matrices, verification frameworks, and engineering summaries that guide solution design and inform Government decision-making.
  • Contributes to the refinement of engineering methodologies by developing process documentation, configuration templates, and evaluation criteria that reinforce consistency and traceability.
  • Strengthens program outcomes by improving design clarity, reducing integration risk, and advancing architectural quality throughout the Advana ecosystem.


Basic Qualifications:
  • BS degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering practices
  • IAM II certifications (Security+)
  • TS with SCI eligibility

The likely salary range for this position is $128,039 - $173,229. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
