Job Description

The Commercial Launch Sales Team is responsible for selling launch services to new and existing customers including satellite operators and manufacturers, foreign governments, private astronauts, and space exploration pioneers. As the Business Operations Lead, you will report to the Director of Commercial Sales. You will lead market forecasting and competitive intelligence and will drive process automation across the team. You will work closely with our engineering teams to shape product direction to align with future customer needs. SpaceX evolves rapidly, and you'll be a critical asset to the team as you collectively advance our presence in the launch market across the galaxy.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Create compelling communications materials in support of our efforts to increase access to space and our position as an industry leader
  • Utilize technical tools (Python, SQL, etc.) to define and develop sales-specific metrics and dashboards that track pre-sales performance and post-sales health
  • Integrate with sales, finance, and customer success teams to identify initiatives for improvement of SpaceX's business outlook, including developing, tracking, and executing business initiatives with SpaceX's leadership
  • Engage SpaceX leadership with quantitative and qualitative updates on performance and opportunities
  • Create and maintain a database of technical competitive intel to ensure sales leads are well informed when developing competitive analyses
  • Support all sales directors with their respective regions and clients, pitching in wherever needed
  • Build, maintain, and improve data models, forecast models, dashboards, and data pipelines 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in consulting, engineering, product management, operations, FP&A, banking, and/or entrepreneurship

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Strong background in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent analytical skills (e.g. Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Power Query, Microsoft Office applications, Excel modeling, or similar data manipulation tools etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements
  • Bias toward action and automation
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, preferably in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly with senior business leaders
  • Demonstrated success driving tangible impact/influencing within a broader organization
  • Strong understanding of launch vehicles, satellites, and/or the aerospace market

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, other SpaceX locations, and events as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Sales Operations Lead: $90,000 - $125,000/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
