Boom Crane Operator **Premium Posting**

Responsibilities for this Position

Candidate will perform Boom Crane Operations in support of submarine construction, maintenance and repair. Candidate must be willing to work off-shift and overtime assignments to support production and key events. Reading, writing and arithmetic are all basic skills necessary to interpret load charts, comprehend department instructions, special procedures and technical work documents. Written proficiency exams are necessary to document competencies covering operational characteristics, load charts, controls and emergency responses to the crane type for which the qualification is obtained. Candidate must be able to pass an annual Electric Boat crane operator physical examination and may have to obtain a commercial drivers license (CDL) and State of CT hoisting engineers license, thus, entailing random drug testing. Applicant must be able to work at various/extreme heights and or confined spaces.

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of five years experience required in the operation of mobile, gantry, portal or tower cranes with a minimum capacity of 100 tons
• Knowledge of hand signals per ASME B-30
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights over 80 feet
• Ability to pass an initial and yearly crane operators physical
• Ability to obtain a secret clearance

Preferred:

• Crane Operator Certification from a recognized authority (eg. NCCCOP, State, Military, P-307 or Electric Boat)
• Familiarity with applicable ANSI/OSHA/B-30 series standards governing crane operators
