Associate Manager, Operations Management

The Shared Services Operations Manager is responsible for leading complex operational functions, driving execution across multiple teams, and ensuring performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role provides strategic and tactical leadership for day-to-day operations, develops team capability, and partners cross-functionally to achieve business objectives through Kaizen, Blitz and small continuous improvement initiatives. The shared services team is comprised of multiple work cell teams including Kit Verification and Manufacturing Set Up, SMT Assembly as well as Ruggedization and Specialty CCA Rework lab.

Essential Functions:

  • Establish goals and objectives for production teams with direct impact on short-term operational results and department performance
  • Manage direct reports to ensure schedules for the product line(s) are achieved. This includes ensuring that the product line(s) are properly staffed in accordance with program requirements and select, develop, and evaluate personnel through performance management and coaching
  • Ensure employee safety throughout the operation process, developing/enhancing Job Safety Analysis (JSA) where required
  • Champion safety and 5S+1 initiatives to drive an improved culture for product line(s)
  • Communicates within and outside own function to explain policies, practices, and operational requirements; gains cooperation across functional departments to ensure efficient transition of hardware through the factory
  • Drive moderate to substantial improvements in processes and systems by eliminating waste through lean manufacturing principles, resulting in improved efficiency, lead time reductions, and enhanced operational performance.
  • Lead product line Gemba process and strive for 100% engagement of the staff
  • Create and sustain a culture of teaming environment and improvement using OpEx Framework
  • Develop proposal strategies and review operations bid and proposals prior to management approval
  • Develop, maintain and update capacity, capital and resource (manpower, equipment, tools) planning inputs that ensure product line execution capability
  • Monitor failure trends and quality defects; drive resolutions that achieve a “zero” defect culture with no escapes to our customers
  • Analyze product line operations (daily, weekly, monthly) and initiate timely corrective actions to ensure efficient production flow and achievement of product line goals
  • Manage day-to-day budget elements including overtime, resource allocation, and operational expenditures within approved parameters
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 6 years prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g.., mistake proofing, 3P, 5S+1, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Root Cause Analysis, Gemba, Pull-Flow)c.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a cross functional team or teams and previous supervisory experience
  • 6 Sigma Green/Black Belt
  • Experience in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) or Printed Circuit Board assembly/manufacturing
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM), Material Planning, and ERP/MRP ➔ or Manufacturing Execution systems (ERP/MRP/MES)
  • Experience developing proposal inputs
  • Advanced degree, MBA or MS Degree
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills with business
