Job Summary:
You will provide onsite leadership for piping construction activities primarily focused on the project’s Single Cycle Gas Turbine units, ensuring all work is executed safely, meets technical requirements, and aligns with project schedule and budget objectives. You will direct craft labor and subcontractors, oversee daily field operations, and drive workforce planning, progress reporting, and cost/schedule performance.
Working closely with engineering, construction management, and project controls, you will resolve constructability issues, support the development of work scopes, and ensure effective use of automation tools and project procedures. You will play a central role in maintaining quality, enforcing use of current design documents, and ensuring that tools, materials, and equipment are available to support efficient execution.
Major Responsibilities:
Leadership/Supervision
- Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.
- Schedules work to be performed, and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
- Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.
Planning
- Determines workforce requirements.
- Prepares reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
- Participates in weekly cost and schedule reviews with senior management.
- Manages activities with other disciplines or areas and clients ‘resident representatives, as instructed by construction management.
- Coordinates and directs multi-discipline craft activities within a specific area of the project, or all related crafts of a single discipline covering one or more areas of the project.
- Forecasts labor unit rates, field distributable, construction equipment, and quantities.
- Develop craft staffing plans which support the schedule.
- Monitors BSAP / Automation tools utilized within their area.
- Enforces the daily usage, including setting expectations from direct reports as stipulated in the Roles and Responsibilities section of BSAP / Automation Functionality Guides.
- Assigns/ re-assigns Installation Work Packages to the RS BSAP/Automation tools.
- Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Coordinates construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
- Coordinates with other subcontractors and external stakeholders (or subcontractors) to plan construction schedules
- Manages Tools, Materials & Equipment
- Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.
- Prepares Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
Safety/Quality
- Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements
- Implements and enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
- Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelors degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Preferred previous experience delivering a power plant as Piping Superintendent.
- Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Experience overseeing engineering solutions with subcontractors, foremen and craft professionals.
- Experience coordinating with Design on constructability issues.
- Experience overseeing the preparation of testing processes and required test equipment.
- Experience inspecting installed components for technical acceptance.
- Experience overseeing the development of commodity installation means and methods.
- Demonstrated understanding of industry / international codes and standards applicable to work scope.
- Knowledge of applicable automation software and processes as applicable.
- A thorough knowledge of ASME & ASTM
- A strong background in craft management and understanding of the project (Non Union) labor agreements.
