Overview
General Dynamics Electric Boat is proud to offer an 8-week paid internship for high school students interested in Shipyard Operations and Metal Trades at our Groton facility. This program provides a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience and technical knowledge within the shipbuilding industry.Program Highlights:Mentorship: Interns will work under the guidance of a trained mentor from their respective union.Hands-On Experience: Interns will learn to use various tools and equipment essential to Groton Operations.Professional Exposure: Opportunities to observe production processes and interact with skilled employees across departments.MTC - Potential Areas of Placement:Outside ElectricianInside MachinistOutside MachinistPainterPipefitterShipfitterWelderMaintenance ElectricianMaintenance MechanicInterns will be enrolled in the union during their employment.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Must complete your junior year of High School by June 2026 Must be 16 years of age or older Must be a U.S. Citizen Interns will become employees of Electric Boat and union members for the duration of their summer internship Must meet Electric Boat employment requirements, including medical screening and a hair follicle drug testMust be available to work eight consecutive weeks; June 29, 2026 - August 21, 2026
