Description
SAIC is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer with an active Interim Secret clearance to be a part of a team responsible for evolving and transforming the Air Force Cloud One DevSecOps environment. The Cloud One environment is an existing global, interconnected, virtualized, hybrid, and IT infrastructure hosting mission systems, applications, services, and data that will serve the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and U.S. Army (USA). Cloud One incorporates the capabilities of commercial cloud and Managed Service Providers (MSP) residing in Cloud Service Providers (CSPs). Cloud One facilitates the USAF and USA’s efforts to migrate applications to a cloud environment, allowing the closure of data centers to support the Data Center Optimization Initiative (DCOI) and allowing for increased efficiencies across the entire spectrum of the USAF and USA's IT operations. This position is 100% remote.
Job Responsibilities:
- Architect, deploy, and document fault-tolerant, multi-region applications leveraged by over 100 AWS customer accounts.
- Make cloud-savvy decisions that improve cost optimization, scalability, and operational management of existing Cloud One common services.
- Provide specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, application & data migration techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
- Develop and conduct testing of multi-region failover capabilities within the new system.
- Maintain technical expertise on relevant industry standards and in cloud computing and virtualization technologies such as cloud service provider architecture.

- Modernize existing cloud common services using new cloud computing and virtualization technologies.
- May also provide systems engineering activities such as: Requirements Definition, Analysis and Engineering, System Architecting, System Analysis and Design, Interface and Data Architectures, Validation and Verification, System Integration, System & Op. Performance Analysis, Lifecycle Cost Analysis & Estimation, and Decision Analysis.
- Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience
- Additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
Required Clearance:
- Interim Secret clearance required to start; Ability to obtain a Secret clearance required to maintain employment.

Required Experience and Skills:
- Git Lab
- Terraform/Terragrunt
- Jenkins
- Cloud networking experience (Amazon VPC, Transit Gateway, advanced NACL/Security Group knowledge)
- Experience deploying and running containerized applications in the cloud (Docker)
- Kubernetes design, deployment, operations, and sustainment
- In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes RBAC
- Knowledge of core AWS computer services (EC2, ECS, Elastic Beanstalk, Elastic load balancing, Autoscaling groups, dynamic scaling actions)
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure/application-level monitoring (CloudWatch, canaries, SOTS and Open Source APM offerings)
- Active Directory/ADFS configuration
- Experience designing, deploying, and operating fault-tolerant, multi-region applications in AWS
- Firewall configuration (Palo Alto/Barracuda)
- Experience using project management suites to manage Agile/Scrum projects

Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
