Inventory Specialist, Maintenance (Starlink)

SpaceX is developing a low-latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. The Starlink Development Operations team is responsible for the fabrication and building of prototypes, production tooling, and automation equipment for the rapidly growing Starlink consumer electronics business. The Inventory Specialist position supports the Starlink Development Operations team. This role is responsible for managing inbound material, picking products for development projects and engineering teams, and ensuring inventory accuracy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain continual oversight to RFI backlogs and incoming backlogs to ensure material is received and delivered within target
  • Support daily/weekly team meetings to help the team improve and ensure that our inventory meets the needs of our direct team and our broader customer base
  • Receive, store and issue raw material, parts, details, and hardware to support shop operations
  • Monitor department consumables and feel ownership over the overall solution and process flow
  • Perform picking function to make up necessary kits of parts, material and hardware as required, ascertaining that all parts are available and accounted for in kit
  • Interface with other teams, sites, shipping, receiving, planning, quality control, purchasing, and other related departments to resolve problems regarding receipt and distribution of material
  • Maintain strict material handling practices in accordance with company procedures
  • Verify all material received for conformity with accompanying paperwork, checking for damage, correct part numbers, quantity and revisions
  • Issue material against approved paperwork and ensure traceability or required serialization is correct
  • Breakdown crates, pallets and boxes and store material in an optimized and standard manner for improved packing density and ease of picking
  • Breakdown basic mechanical assemblies as required into their constituent parts to support return of inventory
  • Monitor shelf-life storage and maintain proper rotation of stock
  • Support the organizations goals and objectives including audits, cycle counts and proper and regular housekeeping practices

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years of inventory control experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of inventory control experience in a warehouse
  • Experience and understanding of inventory and kitting processes
  • Experience operate a forklift and other related inventory equipment
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience within the aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or electronic fields
  • ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to gain forklift certification
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as required to support critical milestones
