Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Multimedia Designer to join our diverse team, working on the Forward Area Air Defense (FAAD) portfolio of programs in Redondo Beach, CA. The selected candidate will design and develop multimedia learning solutions for an Army Air Defense System that includes defense against manned aircraft; rockets, artillery, and mortars; unmanned aerial systems (UAS); and cruise missile defense.

This requisition may be filled at the Multimedia Designer or Principal Multimedia Designer level:

  • Multimedia Designer - Bachelor's degree in Instructional Systems Design, Instructional Technology, Human Performance, Training and Learning Development, Psychology, Marketing, or related discipline (and 2 years of relevant experience; or 0 Years with Masters) or 6 years of experience in lieu of degree may be considered.
  • Principal Multimedia Designer - Bachelor's degree in Instructional Systems Design, Instructional Technology, Human Performance, Training and Learning Development, Psychology, Marketing, or related discipline (and 5 years of relevant experience in Object Oriented Languages (OOL); or 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD) or 9 years of experience in lieu of degree may be considered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates comprehensive expertise in analyzing and evaluating knowledge and skill gaps to identify training requirements and develop appropriate learning solutions
  • Design and develop training products for multiple modalities, including online, in-person, hybrid, as well as synchronous and asynchronous formats
  • Develop a comprehensive suite of training materials—including instructor-led sessions, microlearning modules, interactive online courses, and on-the-job qualification/certification programs—with minimal supervision

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience designing and developing learning materials for technical disciplines
  • Experience developing technology-based learning products
  • Experience creating formative and summative evaluations for technical disciplines
  • Experience with digital instructional design software (e.g., Camtasia, Storyline, Articulate, Adobe Captivate/Creative Suite)
  • Experience with digital design utilizing current SCORM standards, technical and creative writing; developing technical training deliverables
  • Experience working in ADDIE and other training development models for technical disciplines
  • Experience applying adult learning theories and process-driven instructional design principles
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain U.S. DoD Secret Level clearance
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time

Following are good to have, but are not required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of human performance processes to breakdown knowledge and skill gaps to identify appropriate learning solutions
  • Multimedia design experience (audio/video editing, 2D/3D design, animation, software simulation, etc.)
  • Experience using multiple instructional development software tools
  • Experience executing and delivering training system products on large DoD military program
  • Current Secret Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $69,000.00 - $103,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $85,600.00 - $128,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
