Overview

Join the V2X Aircraft Integration & Sustainment team. We are seeking an experienced Ground Support Equipment Mechanic Operate and drive all types of aviation ground support equipment – motorized and non-motorized. Conduct regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on ground support equipment, including but not limited to tow tractors, diesel engines, generators, and air conditioning units and maintenance stands.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

·       Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, including fluid changes, filter replacements, belt adjustments, and tire rotations. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, industry standards, and safety regulations.

·       Overhaul and rebuild engines, transmissions, and other major components to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, parts used, and hours spent on each task.

·       Coordinate with program teams to effectively prioritize and complete repair jobs in a timely manner to minimize equipment downtime.

·       Maintain a clean and organized workshop, ensuring all tools, equipment, and parts are properly stored and readily accessible. Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to ground support equipment maintenance and repair.

·       Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues. Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external vendors to coordinate repairs, procure parts, and resolve any technical issues.

·       Where applicable, fuel equipment as necessary with full regard for all safety and environmental requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

Material & Equipment Directly Used

Operate support equipment Ground Power Units, Air Start Units, Hydraulic Power Units, Air Conditioning Units and Tugs and Tractors.

Basic computer software and hardware experience including competency with MS Office.

Working Environment

Will vary significantly based on aircraft scheduling, will work Line Maintenance and Hangar Maintenance. Work may be performed during hot/cold outdoor weather and possibly during inclement weather.   

Physical Activities

  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, crouch, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to climb and work from ladders, work stands, and other heights.
  • Must be able to work with one or both hands extended overhead.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Education / Certifications:

·       Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

·       Ability to obtain and maintain security clearances and certifications as required by onsite programs.

·       Proficient computer skills in using maintenance management systems and software for record-keeping and inventory management.

·       Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

·       Completion of a formal training program in automotive or heavy equipment mechanics, or equivalent work experience.

·       Must be able to lift / pull / push equipment over 50lbs.

·       Must be willing and able to work with job required hazardous materials.

·       Must be able to safely operate a forklift, crane and manlifts.

·       Must be able to crawl under, climb over, and push equipment to perform repairs.

·       Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, stand for prolonged periods of time, climb steps, ladders and/or service stands.

·       Must have the ability to work any shift, overtime, weekends, and flexible hours as required.

·       Must be Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information and Company Proprietary data.

·       Must be able to abide by DOT/FAA regulations able to pass background check and drug screening

·       High School diploma/GED

Experience:

·       At least five (5) years of hands-on experience as a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic, preferably in the aviation industry, performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to aircraft powered and mom-powered support equipment.

·       Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
