Social Video Editor, Brand Studio

Torrance, California, United States
Full Time On-site

Summary

Job Description

Defense industry content is not known for creative ambition. We are and will continue to change that—especially with you on the team.

Castelion is building its brand studio from the ground up, and we are looking for a Social Video Editor who brings equal craft to the shoot and the edit bay. You understand how attention moves on social platforms: how the first two seconds earn the next thirty, how the same story lives differently on YouTube versus LinkedIn (and if we go there: Reels and TikTok), and how to engineer that from the moment you pick up a camera.

The content you create will be how the world comes to understand what Castelion is building and why it matters. Your work has great consequence for the overall mission.

If you have strong opinions about what makes social video work and a portfolio that backs them up, keep reading.

AREAS OF IMPACT

Edit and Post-Production

  • Own the edit from assembly cut through final delivery: pacing, color grading, sound design, and motion graphics
  • Edit for platform and format: knowing that a cut built for YouTube requires a fundamentally different approach than one built for Shorts, LinkedIn, or Reels
  • Maintain Castelion's visual standards across every deliverable, from long-form brand films to short-form social content
  • Write to picture when needed: scripting, captions, and on-screen text that are accurate, tight, and built for the platform

Social Format and Platform Fluency

  • Produce content natively optimized for vertical (9:16) and horizontal (16:9) formats across YouTube, Shorts, LinkedIn, and X
  • Bring a clear point of view on how the same narrative lives across channels without simply being resized
  • Create multiple cuts and format variants to support performance testing across platforms, and use analytics to inform what gets made next

Pre-Production and Production Support

  • Provide capture support for Castelion's on location and in studio shoots across a range of environments, including manufacturing facilities and field test sites
  • Continually provide fresh creative ideas and direction for new video content
  • Collaborate with the Senior Producer on shoot planning, ensuring creative intent and technical execution are aligned before the day begins

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work directly with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure content reflects the technical accuracy and precision Castelion's products demand
  • Engage, manage, and route content requests from business partners across the company including HR, Government Relations, and the executive team
  • Translate complex technical subject matter into visual stories that are accurate, compelling, and accessible to a broad audience

Content Innovation

  • Stay current on social video trends, format innovations, and platform changes; bring a point of view on what Castelion should and shouldn't try out
  • Use AI-assisted production and post-production tools where they serve the work, with a clear perspective on where human creative judgment is irreplaceable

THE CANDIDATE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You understand how stories are built for social-native environments: how the same narrative lives across channels and how format shapes meaning
  • You know how attention moves: how a clip earns the next ten seconds and how to engineer that relationship from the production stage forward
  • You have strong opinions about visual craft and the communication skills to bring others to your point of view
  • You are as comfortable on set as you are in the edit bay; you bring the same level of care to both
  • You have likely built something from scratch before and know the feeling of owning a result end to end

You are drawn to work that carries genuine weight. The work here at Castelion has it in abundance

WHAT YOU BRING

Required

  • 5 or more years of video production experience spanning both shooting and editing, with a portfolio that demonstrates craft across social formats and production scales
  • A public portfolio of work on YouTube, Instagram Reels, and/or TikTok that shows fluency with both vertical (9:16) and horizontal (16:9) formats
  • Deep experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Photoshop, and Lightroom
  • Demonstrated experience shooting in technically complex or restricted environments, including aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or comparable industrial settings
  • Fluency with motion graphics and 2D animation as storytelling tools, whether executed personally or in collaboration with specialists
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted production and post-production workflows and a clear point of view on how these tools serve, rather than replace, creative judgment
  • Extreme attention to detail without losing sight of the larger narrative goal

Preferred

  • Experience shooting with camera systems from Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Arri, and Blackmagic
  • Prior work inside an in-house creative team at a technology, aerospace, or defense company
  • Experience in early days of a brand studio or agency
  • Familiarity with social analytics tools and comfort using performance data to inform creative decisions
  • Familiarity with ITAR requirements and the operational realities of producing content in a classified or access-restricted facility
