Job Description

The Starbase Development Team is seeking a Superintendent for Residential Construction to spearhead the construction and activation of cutting-edge residential and commercial infrastructure in Starbase, TX. Your role will be pivotal to support the development of sustainable, high-performance living spaces that support the next era of space exploration at Starbase and select SpaceX facilities. This full-time position is based in South Texas (Brownsville/South Padre area), offering you the autonomy to innovate and impact at a groundbreaking scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the field construction of residential construction projects, work side-by-side with teams to promote strong adherence to construction standards, quality guidelines, and efficient practices across residential projects
  • Foster a strong safety mindset by guiding safety measures, daily briefings, risk evaluations, and full compliance with OSHA, local regulations, and SpaceX guidelines on all residential sites
  • Manage all construction site operations, including material organization, equipment setup, and subcontractor scheduling for residential builds
  • Develop and track key metrics to ensure construction timelines and milestones are successfully met
  • Perform thorough field inspections and reviews to maintain excellent quality in every residential detail
  • Quickly spot, address, and resolve hurdles, delays, and potential issues as they arise, team up with others to keep things moving forward without interruption
  • Guide and support field teams, subcontractors, and specialists, streamline processes to enhance efficiency while encouraging teamwork and growth
  • Conduct final walkthroughs and address any remaining items, work with facilities teams to hand over fully ready residential spaces for easy use and upkeep

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of hands-on professional experience in residential field engineering, construction supervision, or site superintendence

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or other technical discipline
  • OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety training, with a history of maintaining safe work environments
  • Experience using field management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, or Bluebeam) for tracking and reporting in real time
  • Involvement in residential design-build projects, with a talent for connecting detailed plans to practical on-site work
  • Experience in reviewing and understanding residential blueprints, shop drawings, and specs with tools like AutoCAD or Bluebeam Revu
  • Solid understanding of residential building codes, permitting steps, and environmental rules in varied locations
  • Knowledge across residential construction areas, including site preparation, structural elements, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems, geotechnical factors, and surveying
  • Proven ability to lead field efforts on medium-to-large residential projects, with expertise in quality assurance, issue resolution, and team encouragement during busy periods
  • Experience with detailed site checks, analyzing problems at their source, and putting fixes in place to keep standards high
  • Excel in dynamic, ever-changing settings, adapting quickly to new tasks while staying focused, responsible, and committed to safety
  • Strong communicator and team builder, able to guide varied groups on your own or together, with a forward-thinking style for solving challenges and aligning with others

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work at heights up to 200+ feet on residential scaffolding, ladders, or raised platforms
  • Physical ability to lift and move materials or tools (up to 25 lbs.) around active construction sites
  • Typically exposed to work in challenging outdoor conditions-intense heat, cold, rain, and typical South Texas weather
  • Ability to handle construction site elements, including dust, fumes, odors, noise, and uneven ground
  • Flexible to work longer hours, weekends, and shift adjustments to match residential project needs and timelines
  • Valid driver's license and dependable transportation for getting around sites
  • Occasional travel may be required to manage residential field work at other SpaceX production or operational locations
