Job Description

The Starbase Development Team is seeking a Residential Construction Project Manager to spearhead the design, construction, and activation of cutting-edge residential and commercial infrastructure in Starbase, TX. Your role will be pivotal to support the development of sustainable, high-performance living spaces that support the next era of space exploration at Starbase and select SpaceX facilities. This full-time position is based in South Texas (Brownsville/South Padre area), offering you the autonomy to innovate and impact at a groundbreaking scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all facets of multi-disciplinary residential construction projects on-site, from foundation to finish, with a focus on quality and innovation
  • Champion the full project lifecycle for residential builds, prioritizing customer satisfaction, sustainability, and operational readiness
  • Solicit and evaluate proposals from architects, engineers, and residential contractors; award contracts to drive value and speed
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage comprehensive construction contracts specializing in residential disciplines
  • Develop detailed project controls, including scheduling, budgeting, and cost management for residential developments
  • Develop accurate preliminary cost estimates based on residential scopes, including material, labor, and site-specific factors
  • Navigate and expedite approvals from city, county, and regulatory bodies for residential zoning, building codes, and environmental compliance
  • Build strong partnerships with contractors, fabricators, architects, and internal stakeholders to align with residential project goals
  • Proactively resolve design, permitting, and construction challenges in real-time, adapt to dynamic field conditions
  • Partner with facilities teams and end-users to transition residential spaces into fully operational, low-maintenance environments post-construction

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, or engineering
  • 3+ years of hands-on professional experience in residential architecture, engineering, construction management, or facilities development

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven track record with residential project management and scheduling tools (e.g., Procore, Primavera, or MS Project)
  • Hands-on design experience in residential or technical building projects
  • Intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software for residential layouts
  • Deep knowledge of residential permitting processes, building codes, and environmental regulations
  • Expertise across residential development technical disciplines, including civil/site work, structural framing, mechanical/HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, geotechnical analysis, and surveying
  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale residential construction projects, including estimation and forecasting, scheduling, and subcontractor oversight
  • Skilled in reviewing, interpreting, and approving residential shop drawings, fabrication plans, blueprints, and technical specifications
  • Thrive in high-velocity environments, pivoting roles swiftly while sustaining urgency, precision, and results
  • Exceptional independent thinker and collaborative team player, with initiative, clear communication, and a bias for action

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Comfort working at heights up to 200+ feet on residential scaffolding or access systems
  • Physical ability to lift and transport materials or tools (up to 25 lbs.) across construction sites
  • Flexible to work extended hours, weekends, and shift work to align with residential project deadlines and site operations
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Occasional travel may be required to support residential builds at other SpaceX production or operational sites
