Summary

Job Description

This role will support printer setup and post print-processing of metal powder bed fusion products for the Raptor Engine. Technicians on this team are versatile and highly skilled, wearing several hats in an effort to get the job done. The ideal candidate is able to:

  • Safely and efficiently operate several assets to meet Raptor's rate.
  • Perform work instructions without deviation, perform all tasks with high efficiency and quality, and provide feedback to improve the process.
  • Continuously improve their workmanship, teammates, and the process
  • Understand the goals of the business and support the company to achieve them.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up, operate and turn over various additive manufacturing printers according to procedures, specifications, and instructions
  • Fully support all post printing operations. Includes but not limited to: powder removal, support removal, borescope and other inspections
  • Always ensure procedures are followed to ensure safety and to deliver defect free hardware
  • Keep a clean, organized, and thoroughly maintained work space
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications and/or engineering requirements
  • Develop and implement efficiency improvement projects
  • Maintain consumable supply inventory, and complete cycle counts
  • Independently perform verifications and document results in a clear, precise, and complete manner
  • Assist engineers with development build ups or tear downs
  • Operate post processing equipment such as drills, handheld grinders and CNC machines as required
  • Able to flex support other areas of the Additive or Raptor organization to assist areas in need
  • Ability to adapt with process change and updates to work instructions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school degree or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ years of experience with hardware assembly, maintenance, and/or operating and maintaining complex machinery

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working on and troubleshooting large industrial equipment
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from drawings, controlled documentation and processes such as: assembly procedures/work instructions, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts list
  • Experience working in the military or at an aerospace manufacturing company (spacecraft, aircraft, etc.)
  • Experience driving engagement with others, taking initiative, and helping push the team to new levels
  • Strong computer literacy skills with an understanding of how to maximize current technologies
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with or on complex machinery (examples: repairing a pump system, car mechanic, etc)
  • Proven track record of high-quality work, attention to detail, and high level throughput

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is a 1st shift role from 5 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Adhere to SpaceX time and attendance policy
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work directly with the hardware on the floor while being comfortable stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing and standing (including on lifts and ladders)
  • Ability to stand up for up to 8 hours during the day

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Propulsion Technician/Level 1: $23.00 - $27.00/hour
Propulsion Technician/Level 2: $26.00 - $32.50/hour
Propulsion Technician/Level 3: $31.00 - $38.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
