SAIC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Metrology Engineer to support our projects in the selection, calibration, and management of test equipment. This role involves close collaboration with various teams to ensure proper calibration processes and compliance with calibration and metrology standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metrology, equipment calibration, and related technical expertise. This role will be onsite in Crane, IN. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Test Equipment Selection:
    • Assist projects in identifying and procuring the correct test equipment required for specialized tasks and processes.
  2. Calibration Maintenance Requirements System (CMRS) Development:
    • Support the development and implementation of a Calibration Maintenance Requirements System (CMRS) for unsupported test equipment.
    • Collaborate with teams to maintain and upgrade CMRS records, ensuring accurate tracking and updates for all relevant equipment.
  3. Calibration Procedure Development:
    • Assist in the creation and refinement of calibration procedures for new and legacy equipment, ensuring adherence to industry and organizational standards.
  4. Coordination with Calibration Laboratory:
    • Serve as a primary interface between project teams and the Calibration Lab.
    • Address matters related to calibration requirements and CMRS to ensure timely resolution and compliance.
  5. Workplace Collaboration:

Collaborate with other metrology engineers using shared kiosks, lab spaces, and conference rooms to execute daily tasks

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field plus two (2) years of experience.
    • Proven experience in metrology, calibration, and test equipment selection.
    • Demonstrated expertise in developing and managing Calibration Maintenance Requirements Systems (CMRS).
    • Strong knowledge of calibration standards and ability to create calibration procedures for unsupported equipment.
    • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact effectively with project teams and calibration lab personnel.
    • Proficiency in using calibration tools, technology, and software.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience working in a shared workspace environment such as kiosks, labs, or conference rooms.
    • Familiarity with organizational procurement processes for test equipment.
  • Security Clearance Requirements: 
    • Interim Secret clearance required to start.
    • Must have the ability to obtain and hold a finalized Secret clearance.
