Job Responsibilities

The Ship’s Store Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for supporting retail procurement and inventory replenishment operations in accordance with Navy Ship’s Store standards and established purchasing procedures. Responsibilities include monitoring stock levels, preparing purchase requests, coordinating with approved vendors, and ensuring timely receipt of merchandise to maintain optimal inventory availability.

The Ship’s Store Purchasing Coordinator reviews product specifications, verifies pricing, and ensures procurement activities comply with Navy regulations and internal inventory controls. The coordinator assists with tracking open orders, reconciling purchase documentation, and maintaining accurate purchasing and inventory records.

This role supports inventory forecasting, identifies low‑stock or high‑demand items, and collaborates closely with Store Clerks, Accountants, and store leadership to maintain a consistent and reliable product assortment. The coordinator also assists with receiving merchandise, validating shipment accuracy, labeling items, and updating point‑of‑sale (POS) or inventory management systems.

Additional duties include supporting vendor communication, preparing procurement reports, ensuring proper documentation for audits, and contributing to the overall efficiency and accuracy of Ship’s Store retail operations in a mission‑driven, remote environment.

Minimum Requirements

1–3 years of experience in purchasing, retail procurement, inventory coordination, or related field

High school diploma or equivalent

Basic understanding of procurement processes, inventory management, and retail operations

Proficiency with Microsoft Office or inventory/POS systems

Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate purchasing records

• Must be in possession of a valid Passport and be able to travel internationally.

• Passport should be valid for a minimum of 1 plus years at the time of hiring.

• Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.

• Excellent organizational, time management and customer service skills.

• Valid country driver's license

• Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
