Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a motivated professional to serve as a Technical Writer/Editor (level 2/3) to join our diverse team of professionals located in Oklahoma City, OK.

You will derive information from released technical source and/or may assist in the development of them with engineers and SMEs. Using the source materials, you are expected to interpret, formulate, affect data and will write, re-write and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly. Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. you will identify and resolve moderate scope and complexity discrepancies within engineering drawings and blue prints that may impact data. Coordinate findings with team members and may refer findings to established precedents and policies to include consulting the engineering group and SMEs. Will assist in the review of products with the customer and can advise its proper use.

*Position may be offered as a level 2 or level 3 Technical Writer/Editor*

Basic Qualifications Level 2:

  • Bachelors degree and 2 years of military, aircraft maintenance or technical writing experience; Masters degree and 0 years of relevant experience. In lieu of formal education, 6 years of relevant military, aircraft maintenance or technical writing experience. 
  • Experienced in aviation maintenance technical publication development and sustainment using applicable software (e.g. Arbortext Editor)
  • Have strong writing, and editing skills, and experience in manipulating grammar.
  • Must have an active US Government Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

Basic Qualifications Level 3:

  • Bachelors degree and 5 years of military, aircraft maintenance or technical writing experience; Masters degree and 3 years of relevant experience. In lieu of formal education, 9 years of relevant military, aircraft maintenance or technical writing experience. 
  • Experienced in aviation maintenance technical publication development and sustainment using applicable software (e.g. Arbortext Editor)
  • Have strong writing, and editing skills, and experience in manipulating grammar.
  • Must have an active US Government Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

Preferred Qualifications Both Levels:

  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance.
  • Proficient in the interpretation of engineering data such as parts list, application list, notes list and print reading.
  • Experienced with configuration management.
  • Experienced in creating multi-configuration, multi-effectivity indentured parts lists from engineering data.

Primary Level Salary Range: $56,500.00 - $84,700.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $70,100.00 - $105,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
