Northrop Grumman Aeronautic Systems is seeking an Aeronautical Engineer/ Principal Aeronautical Engineer to join our diverse team in Palmdale, CA. This position is for the 1st shift with a 4/10 (Monday - Thursday) work schedule.

The selected candidate will become part of the Liaison Engineering team within the Vehicle Engineering IPT.

We are looking for an engineer that designs, develops, and tests a variety of power plants, aircraft, missiles, and parts, taking into consideration the most efficient use of the natural laws affecting flight. Establishes structural specifications, performs stress analysis, and conducts performance tests.

Essential Functions:

Liaison/MRB:

  • Act as engineering authority for non-conformances supporting the STRIKE program

  • Perform timely dispositions for nonconforming parts, assemblies, and installations

  • Coordinate with a team of multiple disciplines engineers to determine effective solutions to defects that are innovative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives

  • Working knowledge of subsystems (electrical, hydraulics, fuels, fluids and propulsion systems) installations, composite structures, & metallic structures

  • Maintain integrity of the Material Review Board (MRB) process and engineering authority

  • Manage/Lead complex issues through hands-on coordination with all departments and levels of leadership until completion

  • Utilizing tools such as NX, VisPro, and TeamCenter

Basic Qualifications (Aeronautical Engineer):

  •   Bachelors of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline from accredited institution with minimum 2 years of experience; Masters with minimum 0 years of experience; PhD with minimum 0 years of experience.

  •   Experience with MRB process

  •   Experience with TeamCenter and NX, Visualization Professional, or other CAD program

  •   This position requires a current in-scope USG Secret Clearance as well as the ability to obtain a Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Basic Qualifications (Principal Aeronautical Engineer):

  •   Bachelors of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline from accredited institution with minimum 5 years of experience; Masters with minimum 3 years of experience; PhD with minimum year of experience.

  •   Experience with MRB process

  •   Experience with TeamCenter and NX, Visualization Professional, or other CAD program

  •   This position requires a current in-scope USG Secret Clearance as well as the ability to obtain a Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •   Previous MRB/LE Authority for Engineering

  •   Experience working hands-on in a production assembly line environment

  •   Experience with Model Based Engineering (MBE ) (3-D model engineering definition)

  •   Excellent written and verbal communication skills, leadership, and problem solving abilities

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
