Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Data Protection and Storage expert to be part of the Secure Area IT team. This position will support multiple secure areas across local and national sites. The primary responsibility of the Storage and Data Protection Engineer is to provide Storage and Data Protection design consulting services and be the driver behind the storage standards for the Secure Area IT organization. This position will help set the standards used for data protection standards inside secure area space, maintain the storage baselines by establishing, documenting and maintaining the storage configuration and coordinating asset management tracking for annual maintenance support renewals.

Essential Functions:

  • SME for the Secure Area IT team in the areas of Data Protection and Storage
  • Provide Storage and Data Protection design support for secure area environments projects and programs
  • Establish, document and maintain configuration and security standards per ICD 503 (RMF) for the use and configuration of Storage Networks, NAS, Hyperconverged platforms and Data Protection (Data Backup and Archive).
  • Storage Asset Management tracking and vendor coordination for annual maintenance support contract renewal.
  • Consulting with programs or pursuits to design and recommend Storage and data protection.
  • Capable of leading and managing storage expansion/upgrade projects.
  • Provide and manage training and training opportunities for the Secure Area IT team.
  • Learn and advise on company, IT, and Customer security policies
  • Committed to supporting critical operations during standard business hours and providing flexible support as needed outside standard hours.
  • Work is 100% on-site and cannot be accomplished remotely.
  • Infrequent travel (about 10%) to remote sites as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, MIS, CIS, CS or equivalent and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree in IT, MIS, CIS, CS or equivalent and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. 
  • 10+ years’ experience in Storage Administration and Data Protection managing an enterprise class environment, preferably in a classified environment.
  • TS/SCI w/ CI Poly required.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds and participate in 2 person lifts.
  • CompTIA Security + CE or ability to get one within 6 months.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Proficiency with Red Hat Linux and/or Windows Server administration. Linux administration background preferred.
  • Proficiency with Network setup and configuration, understanding of port and protocols (TCP/IP).
  • Understanding Group Policy and applying Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
  • NetApp or SNIA certification preferred.
