Job Description

L3Harris in San Diego, CA is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician to support the design and manufacturing of Special Test Equipment (STE) for Space Telemetry and RF Products. As a Test Engineering Technician, you will be directly involved in assembly, and integration and test of STE. This includes assembling cables, assembling and/or reworking Printed Wiring Assemblies (PWAs), integrating RF equipment/devices and digital or analog equipment and devices to our automated test racks. You will be responsible for performing design verification testing and troubleshooting as well as to be a liaison between engineering and production test teams.

Essential Functions:

  • Build automated test racks and other special test equipment (STE)
  • Independently perform verification testing of circuit cards and higher-level STE assemblies
  • Troubleshoot STE hardware and cables to the component level
  • Write and modify verification test procedures with minimal engineering assistance
  • Build and assemble Cables and PWAs for use on or with Special Test equipment
  • Provide STE field support to production teams including configuration of STE hardware and software.
  • Ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance.

Required Qualifications (one of the following):

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of experience in testing and troubleshooting circuit card assemblies.
  • 6+ years of experience using electrical measurement equipment, including digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, and logic analyzers.
  • 4+ years of experience using RF measurement equipment such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power meters.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with basic RF parameters (bandwidth, reflection, S-parameters, spurious and harmonic signals, SNR, gain compression) and basic analog, digital, and DC circuit parameters (voltage/current/power, logic levels, timing).
  • Experience with military or space qualified hardware designs.
  • Experience performing design verification testing.
  • Experience Assembling, and reworking cables.
  • Experience performing tests using lab equipment.
  • Soldering certification or ability to obtain one.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and assembly drawings.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $62,500 - $116,500.  This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
