Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking a Principal DMSMS Component Engineer (Level 03) for tactical missile system development and production programs within our Advanced Weapons team located in Northridge, CA.  There are no remote work or hybrid options available, this is an on-site position only which requires the ability to obtain a secret clearance to start.

The DMSMS Component Engineer designs, develops, modifies and evaluates digital electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for digital electronic equipment and other hardware systems. Determines design approaches and parameters. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests, and evaluates results. Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. May also review vendor capability to support product development.

Basic Qualifications for a DMSMS Component Engineer (Level 3) are:

• BS and 5+ years of experience, or MS and 3+ years of experience in Digital, Analog and Harness designs including evaluation of engineering design concepts.
• Experience with Diminishing Manufacturing Source and Material Shortages (DMSMS) reporting
• Experience using Silicon Expert, IHS (former of Accuris), and GIDEP tools.
• Experience calculating MTBF (Mean time between failure).
• Ability to obtain a Government DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current/Active DoD Secret Clearance.
• Basis of estimate generation experience
• Ability to communicate findings to customers and management.
• Self-starter capable of performing assigned tasks in some direction.
• Innovated thinker with a demonstrated ability of solving complex problems which require ingenuity and “out of the box” ideas.
• Experience with selecting parts to meet reliability, corrosion, metal whisker, and safety-related requirements.
• Familiarity with NAS411 Hazardous Materials Target List Standard Practice.

Primary Level Salary Range: $125,300.00 - $187,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
