Configuration Manager – Product

Austin, Texas
Full Time On-site

Summary

Job Description

Job Overview

We are hiring a Configuration Manager focused on core product definition, audit compliance,

and part traceability across programs. This individual is responsible for maintaining the

structured relationships between parts, subassemblies, and top-level platforms—ensuring

version-controlled consistency across our engineering, manufacturing, and sustainment

environments.

This role acts as the central authority for how items (designed or procured) are reused, revised,

and controlled across multiple programs. The Configuration Manager – Product will work

closely with engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and program leadership to ensure that

product configurations are accurate, auditable, and aligned to contract and regulatory

expectations.

This is the control point for configuration management at Saronic. It is not a tooling-heavy role

but rather one that requires high attention to detail, fluency in product structure, and confidence enforcing standards across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain structured part and assembly relationships across all platforms and variants

  • Own the item master definition for Saronic’s parts, subassemblies, and COTS items across programs

  • Ensure all product data is version-controlled, baselined, and auditable at the component, system, and platform level

  • Govern how items and designs are reused or revised across multiple configurations, with clear traceability

  • Partner with manufacturing engineering to validate MBOM alignment to the product configuration baseline

  • Review and oversee configuration changes ensuring they are properly documented and traceable in accordance with EIA-649, ASME Y14.5, ISO 9001, and internal practices

  • Coordinate configuration planning and release schedules across programs to avoid version conflicts and unapproved divergence

  • Support audit readiness by maintaining a complete digital record of product configurations and associated approvals

  • Collaborate with the PLM Systems Architect and CAD Administrator to ensure systems and data structures support configuration governance

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in configuration management, product data governance, or related roles

  • Deep familiarity with product structure: items, subassemblies, configurations, alternates, and interchangeability rules

  • Working knowledge of engineering change control (ECOs), drawing versioning, and part release processes

  • Familiarity with configuration and documentation standards such as EIA-649, ASME Y14.5, ISO 9001, or MIL-STD equivalents

  • Experience working with PLM/PDM systems (Teamcenter preferred) to manage product definitions and revision histories

  • Comfortable navigating engineering BOMs, manufacturing BOMs, and how they diverge across programs

  • Ability to collaborate and enforce data discipline across engineering, operations, supply chain, and program management

  • Strong documentation, audit preparation, and version traceability skills

Benefits

  • Medical Insurance: Comprehensive health insurance plans covering a range of services

  • Dental and Vision Insurance: Coverage for routine dental check-ups, orthodontics, and vision care

  • Saronic pays 100% of the premium for employees and 80% for dependents

  • Time Off: Generous PTO and Holidays

  • Parental Leave: Paid maternity and paternity leave to support new parents

  • Competitive Salary: Industry-standard salaries with opportunities for performance-based bonuses

  • Retirement Plan: 401(k) plan

  • Stock Options: Equity options to give employees a stake in the company’s success

  • Life and Disability Insurance: Basic life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage

  • Additional Perks: Free lunch benefit and unlimited free drinks and snacks in the office

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Occasional standing and walking within the office

  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment

  • Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports

  • Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies

  • Lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)

As defined by U.S. law, individuals who are any one of the following are considered to be a “U.S. Person”: (1) U.S. citizens, (2) legal permanent residents (a.k.a. green card holders), and (3) certain protected classes of asylees and refugees, as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
