The Senior Product Engineer will be focused on solving manufacturing engineering challenges impacting delivery of repaired components within a specific part family to support engine overhaul across the MRO network. This could involve quickly deploying a new repair, collaborating with process experts to eliminate rework or improve yield, deploying flow line improvements and principles, finding innovative solutions like temporary farm out or outsourcing, addressing shop non-conformances against the Engine Manual requirements, and lastly supporting the advancement of new ideas and technologies.
A successful person in this role should be able to immediately analyze current state, including understanding true customer demand, current manufacturing (flow line) practices (new make, various overhaul shops, etc.), different locations of supply (engine overhaul, component repair, GEAM, etc.) and the challenges of that supply to deliver against business objectives. They will then need to collaborate with various groups, including engine platforms, repair engineering, PSE (Product Support Engineering), shop process engineers, shop operations, and inspection engineers to solve the problem quickly and expedite engine delivery within a Part Family viewpoint. A successful candidate must leverage leadership skills and team management while utilizing effective problem solving, decision making, and balancing risks by working project initiatives for the betterment of the Product (Part Family) they support in the order of Safety, Quality, Delivery, & Cost.

Roles and Responsibilities

The role will be responsible for addressing manufacturing engineering challenges in the MRO network, with a combination of technical acumen and innovative thinking focused on a specific part family.

Objectives for this role include:

  • Subject matter expert developing and maintaining deep domain part family product knowledge.  Share domain knowledge and provide training across the organization.
  • Ensure work instructions and documentation meet internal and external requirements, collaborate on non-conformance dispositions and compile final compliance records.  Provide technical instruction to resolve product (part family) issues.
  • Create detailed product work instructions and engineering documentation to ensure required technical reports and records are maintained and completed.
  • Support SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) daily management utilizing LEAN fundamentals to facilitate technical problem solving and foster a continuous improvement culture.  Drive systemic change to address root cause findings.
  • Build strong internal and external customer relationships.  Ensure product (part family) meets customer requirements.  Own technical reviews.
  • Provide Part Family (Product) technical support for daily shop operations.  Share best practices and Part Family learnings across the network.  Work cross-functionally on technical roadmaps.

A successful candidate will ensure safe working environments through better ergonomics, better work instructions, and training.  The candidate will also ensure documentation compliance in support of Quality.  The candidate will also ensure product flow through shop and on-time delivery.  Lastly, the candidate will ensure costs align with positive business outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
  • At least 5 years of experience in aerospace and/or manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of overhaul and component repair processes
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal.
  • Ability to travel internationally including ability to work across multiple time zones: USA, Brazil, United Kingdom, Hungary, Poland, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan.
