***This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP***
The Structural Engineer provides cradle-to-grave professional engineering support for facilities, infrastructure, and waterfront structures in support of U.S. Army Public Works operations under the LOGCAP program. The position is responsible for project design and review, structural analysis, inspection, and certification of buildings and infrastructure to ensure safety, code compliance, and mission readiness. The engineer evaluates structural integrity of new and existing facilities in a high-corrosion, remote environment and develops repair, retrofit, and sustainment solutions aligned with Army standards and lifecycle asset management objectives.

- Perform structural assessments of facilities, piers, foundations, roofs, and load-bearing systems
- Develop engineering designs, calculations, cost estimates, and repair recommendations
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and contractor work for compliance
- Conduct field inspections and provide stamped engineering reports when required
- Support project planning, cost estimates, and technical scopes of work
- Provide engineering input for DA 4283 projects and sustainment programs
- Evaluate corrosion, fatigue, and environmental impacts on structural systems
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers on integrated projects
- Support risk assessments and safety reviews for critical infrastructure
- Provide technical guidance during construction and commissioning
- Maintain engineering documentation and asset records
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required·
- Must possess a US Driver’s License
- Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)
- Experience:
- 5+ years of structural design and inspection experience
- Experience with reinforced concrete, steel structures, and foundation systems
- Experience in corrosion-prone or coastal environments preferred
- Waterfront / pier structural experience preferred
- Remote site or expeditionary engineering experience preferred
- Ability to read and produce engineering design drawings, specifications, cost estimates and calculations
- Strong technical writing and reporting skills
- Ability to obtain security clearance if required

- Working Conditions:
- Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).
- Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well
- The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes
- The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
- The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
- Physical Requirements:
- Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
- Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
- Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies
