Overview

**This position will be physically located in Philippines in support of LOGCAP** 

Under the supervision of the Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead and/or various supervisors, performs the full range of field-level overhaul work on chassis group units of one or more types of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, gasoline or multi- fuel. Maintain wheeled vehicles, their associated trailers and material handling equipment systems.


Responsibilities

  • Performs the full range of repair and modification work on heavy/light equipment and vehicles powered by internal combustion
  • Inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, replacement, adjusting and testing of wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems and
  • Service automotive electrical systems including wiring harness, and starting and charging
  • Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or
  • Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic
  • Repairs, relines, replaces, and adjusts
  • Follows checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome
  • Follows repair procedures, using charts, and technical
  • Tests and adjusts repaired systems to meet military performance
  • Performs routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-
  • Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • American National Qualifications
    • Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and host nation Driver’s License, is required.
    • Apprenticeship in Light/Heavy Automobile Repair, Automotive Mechanic or similar preferred
    • Approximately two (2) years experience as an electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems maintenance mechanic
  • Working Conditions:
    • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, humid, tropical environment with temperatures up to 130 degrees in the summer months).
    • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
    • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
    • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
