Overview

General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation's premier designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking Operations Supervisors to take part in building the most complex product in the world.

TheOperations Supervisor for Stagebuilding must possess an energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as requirements of assigned tasks dictate.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for daily assignments and overall coordination of employees to ensure maximum performance, efficiency and quality of functions
  • Requires ability to effectively organize and assign work to hourly employees such that safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives are met
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, improve work order span times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively to provide safe, quality built scaffolding
  • Must have knowledge of safe work practices and EB policies and procedures, ability to comprehend and follow and issue verbal and /or written instructions; willing to work as necessary to support production needs
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisors
  • Must have the ability to set, assign, and measure daily production goals, provide technical expertise, instruct, mentor and motivate all crew members
  • Successful applicants will be placed in a department and shift based on business necessity

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI location.



Responsibilities

  • Ability to evaluate risk and execute plans that minimize risk
  • Highly motivated individual requiring minimal oversight
  • Ability to motivate peers and subordinates to achieve daily goals
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Candidates must have strong organizational skills, presentation skills and verbal & written communication skills


Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diplomaor Equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in stagebuilding/scaffolding, carpentry or related experience
  • The ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints and drawings
  • Candidates must possess strong PC skills including proficiencyinMS Office(Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must be willing to work extended hours, holidays and weekends as business needs dictate
  • Must be available to work all assigned shifts
  • Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense

Preferred:

  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Previous shipyard, shipfitting or construction (carpentry) experience
  • Education and/or training (i.e. Technical School, AS/BS degree in any engineering discipline)
  • MDU graduate
  • Military
