Our BAE Systems team in Fort Wayne is searching for a highly motivated Test Equipment Engineer for our Controls and Avionics Solutions business location in Fort Wayne, IN. A trusted provider of commercial aircraft solutions, the CAS business also produces and develops highly reliable, adaptable, and scalable avionics solutions for the leading manufacturers of commercial aircraft and their propulsion systems.

In this role, the qualified candidate will provide test equipment engineering support to product lines within the New Product Development, Engine Controls/Flight Controls, Air Transport and Aftermarket product centers. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: design, development and maintenance of automated test systems; test fixture design and development; functional circuit card test software development; test equipment repair and maintenance support; and integration/release of test equipment and test programs to production utilizing established configuration control procedures.

Candidates will be an engineering interface between the offsite Product Development teams and the local Product teams from initial test development through integration and release to the Operations teams. Additional engineering support of test equipment, both domestic and international, is also expected. Proven technical skills across a broad spectrum of test systems and software platforms are desired.

Candidates shall have proven project execution skills (preferable test equipment related projects) and be capable of analyzing problems; developing, proposing and quoting solutions; and executing project plan commitments. Experience with six-sigma and 6s/7s methods is preferred.

Some light travel may be required.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Automated test program development.
  • Electronics troubleshooting and instrument familiarity (analog, digital, power, communications).
  • General understanding of test equipment design and development.
  • Ability to interpret and implement requirement specifications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to help make other jobs easier through understanding and listening
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • In-circuit test development (flying probe and/or bed of nails).
  • DITMCO hardware and software systems.
  • Test software languages (e.g. Basic, VB.net, Python, etc.)
  • Proficient in use of test equipment instrumentation (power supplies, meters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate a product and test system that meets accuracy, reliability, efficiency, usability, and maintainability criteria.
  • Ability to propose, quote, and execute test equipment project plans.
  • Statistical process control techniques and analysis.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $64935 - $110390

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
