BAE Systems' Infrastructure Management Center (IMC) is a cross-functional group of engineers supporting infrastructure-related projects across the company, with a focus on growing into new areas outside the company. We are seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to join our team and contribute to the success of our projects.
Job Summary:
As a Lead Engineer in the IMC team, you will guide and support various engineering projects, including equipment and facility engineering assessments, requirements generation, and equipment design efforts. You will work on a range of projects, including plant modernization activities, nuclear weapons storage modernization, and research opportunities within the Department of War (DoW) and Department of Energy (DoE). Your expertise will help drive business growth, reduce costs, and enhance our capabilities in infrastructure and engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a senior technical leader for the IMC, providing engineering direction across multidisciplinary machine, aeronautical, and infrastructure-related projects
- Lead and review the work of cross-functional engineering teams to ensure technical accuracy, sound engineering judgment, and high-quality execution
- Oversee engineering activities across the project lifecycle, including assessments, requirements development, design reviews, technical planning, and execution support
- Serves as a senior technical leader and direct point of contact for functional engineer leads, providing strategic guidance and oversight for matrix resource assignments
- Act as a key technical gatekeeper for engineering deliverables, ensuring work products are complete, coordinated, technically defensible, and aligned with applicable codes, standards, requirements, and customer expectations
- Provide cross-disciplinary engineering oversight spanning structural, mechanical, electrical, controls, systems, and specialty engineering areas
- Establish and reinforce engineering rigor, consistency, and best practices across the IMC, including standardization of methods, procedures, and review processes
- Contribute to the growth and development of the IMC team by mentoring and developing engineers through technical guidance, coaching, and quality-focused review of engineering work products
- Interface directly with customers during technical discussions, site visits, project kickoff activities, and solution development efforts to ensure alignment between customer needs and sound engineering execution
- Support project planning, technical risk identification, staffing coordination, and status communication across a matrixed engineering organization
- Support business development by partnering with stakeholders, capture teams, and program leadership during initial assessments, technical solution development, and proposal activities

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 10 yrs technical experience (8yrs with MS) in industrial and or equipment design
- Working knowledge of design software for efficient production of engineering work (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Inventor, etc.).
- Ability to direct design teams and external design firms and create required engineering documentation using Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Project.
- Ability to interface effectively with site operations and maintenance teams.
- Must be able to obtain Secret (or higher) security clearance
- Professional Engineer License
- Skilled in principles of facility construction/sustainment activities
- Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), Unified Facilities Guide Specification (UFGS)
- Experience in the design and construction of chemical manufacturing facilities that involve the use of acids, bases, and solvents for the production of energetic materials.
- Active Secret clearance, Ability to obtain Top Secret
- Familiarity with Agile Mindset and continuous process improvement
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $136000 - $231200
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
