Overview

General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation's premier designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking Operations Supervisors to take part in building the most complex product in the world.

TheOperations Supervisor Machining (Outsourcing)must possess an energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as requirements of assigned tasks dictate.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for daily assignments, overall coordination of other departments in order to attain maximum performance, efficiency and quality within existing outsourcing parameters
  • Proven ability to effectively organize and assign work to be offloaded to vendor based machine shops such that safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives are met
  • Must demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively to provide quality seamless customer service
  • Must have knowledge of safe work practices; ability to comprehend and follow or issue verbal and /or written instructions; willing to work as necessary to support production needs
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisors
  • Must have the ability to set, assign, and measure daily production goals, instruct, mentor, motivate crew and hold crew members accountable as required
  • Capable of reading, interpreting and putting into effect plans, procedures and instructions
  • Must be capable of taking effective disciplinary action in accordance with company policy and procedures and confer with Human Resources concerning employee problems and manners of resolution

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI location



Responsibilities

  • Ability to interact with various levels of employees in the organization
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Attention to detail


Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years machining or related manufacturing experience
  • Able and available to work all assigned shifts and extended hours, as business needs dictate
  • Willing and able to travel to vendors for support
  • Able to read and interpret EB blue prints, procedures and related reference documents
  • Possess strong PC skills including proficiency with the MS Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Business systems associated with Outsourcing from Machine Shop
  • Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense

Preferred:

  • 3+ years supervisory/leadership experience in a relevant field
  • 5+ years machining experience to include manual and/or CNC machines
  • Vocational/College/Technical school
  • Relevant education or training
  • MDU experience
  • Previous related Military/Navy experience
