GE Aerospace’s US Pay & Time Center of Excellence (COE) delivers accurate, timely payroll and time & attendance services for exempt and non-exempt employees, with a strong focus on complex, high-volume manufacturing environments. The team aligns payroll and timekeeping processes with business goals, using standard work and governance to ensure high-quality preparation, processing, and documentation of pay.The US Senior Pay & Time Manager leads a team of payroll and time & attendance specialists supporting employees across multiple US manufacturing sites, operational locations, and business units. This role sets direction and drives strategic initiatives to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll and timekeeping, enabling employees to focus on delivering excellence in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC). As a key partner to plant and site leaders, HR, and senior stakeholders, this role uses Flight Deck to drive process improvements, standardization, simplification, and operational efficiency, leveraging internal and external best practices to enhance payroll and timekeeping systems.
This role partners closely with HR Managers, Business Leaders, Digital Technology, and other People Operations teams to improve processes, enhance system functionality, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will influence strategy and priorities across sites and programs, with particular focus on hourly, shift-based manufacturing populations. You will lead the compliance, productivity, and efficiency of payroll and time & attendance service delivery; drive continuous improvement; build leadership capability to sustain results; and serve as a peer mentor to other team leaders in the NAM organization.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Ensure pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations, company policies, and, where applicable, collective bargaining agreements for hourly manufacturing and other employee populations.
- Lead day-to-day time & attendance operations for multi-shift, hourly manufacturing and operations teams, including accurate recording of hours worked, overtime, shift differentials, premiums, and leave.
- Lead a high-performing team of payroll and time & attendance specialists; build technical proficiency in Workday Payroll and timekeeping systems; provide ongoing training and development.
- Partner with site and plant leaders, vendors, HR Partners, Total Rewards, Union Relations/Employee Relations, and People Ops teams on compliant, sustainable pay and time practices; resolve complex escalations and risk.
- Manage the partnership with Digital Technology and time & attendance application implementation and support; shape the system roadmap and strategy; guide and collaborate on system enhancements and maintenance with a focus on manufacturing and continuous operations.
- Drive process improvements and strategic initiatives that simplify and standardize timekeeping and payroll processes across manufacturing sites and business units.
- Resolve complex escalations, explaining payroll and timekeeping concepts clearly to executives, HR, and production employees on the shop floor.
- Implement and sustain standard work for pay & time processes and procedures, including standardized site-level timekeeping practices and controls.
- Build strong cross-functional and executive relationships; align objectives and resources across functions; identify risks and drive mitigation plans, especially those impacting hourly operations and production continuity.
- Analyze payroll and time & attendance data (e.g., timecard errors, missed punches, overtime trends, attendance patterns); lead root cause analysis; translate insights into action plans with measurable outcomes.
- Manage over/underpayment processes and partner with HR and Union Relations/Employee Relations to ensure appropriate actions, communication, and remediation.
- Identify pain points in manufacturing and operations timekeeping processes and design sustainable solutions that support continuous improvement.
- Provide payroll and time & attendance expertise during M&A and other large-scale organizational changes, ensuring smooth integration of timekeeping practices and systems.
- Translate strategies into action plans and align team priorities with business needs.
- Serve as a peer mentor to other team leaders in the NAM organization, sharing best practices in managing time & attendance for manufacturing and operations populations.
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field from an accredited university with a minimum of 5 years of experience in HR and/or Payroll/Time & Attendance; or a high school diploma/GED with at least 9 years of experience in HR and/or Payroll/Time & Attendance with similar population support.
- Demonstrated hands-on expertise in Workday Payroll and time & attendance systems, including integration with payroll processes, complex pay rules (e.g., overtime, shift differentials, premiums), and timecard management.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including FLSA, tax compliance, and reporting, with proven experience in a high-volume, multi-state environment.
- Willing to travel as needed, up to 15%, including periodic onsite presence at manufacturing locations to understand and support local practices.
Desired Characteristics:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), Workday, or time system certification.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address complex payroll and timekeeping challenges, including multi-shift operations, schedule changes, and attendance issues.
- Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to engage employees, leaders, and external partners.
- Willingness to deep dive into time & attendance practices at manufacturing and operations sites, develop a cohesive strategy, and drive standardization of work and controls across sites.
- Demonstrated ability to role model continuous improvement behaviors and embed change in fast-paced, operational environments.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with a solutions-oriented approach focused on root cause and sustainable fixes.
- Experience managing internal and external audits, including audits related to time & attendance controls, pay accuracy, and compliance for hourly employees.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple urgent deliverables; experience working in a matrixed leadership environment.
- Experience managing people virtually or across a geographically dispersed team.
Pay and Benefits:
- The base pay range for this position is $ 117,000 - 160,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on March 13th, 2026.
