The Role

HII has an exciting opportunity for an Auditor 4 at our Corporate office in Newport News, VA! 

The successful candidate will understand and be able to objectively execute financial and operational internal audits.  Audit execution will include initial planning/risk assessment, completion of fieldwork, and preparation of reports to document audit findings and recommendations to management for assigned audit projects.  Audit subject matter may be complex; the successful candidate will be able to understand a process, identify areas of risks and controls, create an appropriate test plan and effectively execute the test plan to competently audit the assigned subject.    

Audit procedures will include examining and verifying accounting, statistical, or operational records and/or procedures of internal and/or external organizations to determine the reliability and effectiveness of financial and control systems, material assets, net worth, liabilities, capital stock, surplus, income, and expenditures.  Auditor will examine records to ensure proper recording of transactions and compliance with applicable laws, agreements, and policies.  Auditor will also perform audit activities under Sarbanes-Oxley.  Some audits require in-person visits to production, manufacturing and construction areas.   

Additionally, the successful candidate must be an effective communicator, able to write succinct and clear reports as well as verbally interact effectively with senior levels of management.  Experience with information technology is a plus.  The successful candidate will be innovative, with an open-minded and forward-looking approach to providing audit services.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate team-oriented skills as this specialist may lead and supervise lesser experienced auditors.  

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 8 year of relevant professional experience

Nice to Have

Knowledge of shipbuilding/heavy industrial manufacturing environment; CPA or CIA (or CPA or CIA candidate) preferred
