Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Software Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in either Melbourne FL or San Diego, CA

Job Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • New business acquisition, proposal, and special projects support

  • Support Functional Engineering initiatives

  • Assist with staff workload forecast preparation

  • Identifying and implementing new or improved tools and processes to increase team efficiency

  • Acquire the necessary computers, equipment, and tools to enable the team to accomplish their assigned job

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems

  • Leads Engineering teams with program execution

  • Mentor Engineers on all phases of the Program

  • Creates, reviews, and maintains critical documentation

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Supports the software department, software center, and software sector in their day-to-day activities


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must either have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field AND 8 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in software development, OR a Master’s degree Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field AND 6 years of related professional/military experience OR a PhD Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field and 4 years of experience that includes a background in software development

  • Prior experience in a leadership capacity using agile development, including participating as Product Owner, SCRUM Master, and/or team member in an Agile development environment.

  • Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Experience with Agile software development, object-oriented architecture and programming, software integration and testing.

  • Experience with at least two of the following programming or scripting languages: Java, Python, Go, C++, C#, PowerShell, VBScript, Bash, or KornShell

  • Experience with Cloud technologies and service providers.

  • Active in-Scope, DoD Secret clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current approved PAR to applicable program

  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other STEM discipline

  • Advanced technical management degree

  • Prior experience in engineering functional management

  • Proven leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills

  • Previous experience leading a team of 5-12 employees with a record of on-time performance

  • Previous experience in developing proposal inputs (task descriptions and basis of estimate)

  • Time management and organizational skills to prioritize across concurrent program and functional responsibilities

  • Prior experience with cost account management and task/resource planning

Primary Level Salary Range: $131,100.00 - $241,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
