Overview

Opportunities are available for Electrical, Mechanical and other engineers within D465, the Electrical Components Department, to develop various engineered components for submarine applications working with other Electric Boat, Navy, and outside supplier personnel. Some of these components include electrical hull penetrators, outboard cable assemblies, power distribution hardware and secondary propulsion units/systems.

Some of the key responsibilities associated with this job include:

  • Development of technical requirements
  • Supplier oversight/project management
  • Review of drawings and technical documentation: procedures, reports, technical manuals, specifications, etc.
  • Leading meetings and presentations
  • Associated project management activities
  • Working with the customer (NAVY) as necessary

Successful candidates will be responsible for all aspects of their assigned components including:

  • Understanding system/component operational needs and requirements
  • Supporting development of associated technical documentation including:
    technical manuals operating instructions, ship system manuals, test forms, repair parts lists, procurement specifications, etc.
  • Managing system and component interfaces including:
    electrical, structural, piping, and mechanical
  • Supporting 3D model development and arrangement of systems and components
  • Overseeing vendor design development, manufacturing, testing, and qualification
  • Obtaining customer approval of designs and requirements via formal correspondence
  • Construction engineering support on site in the shipyard(s) as required

Periodic overtime, or travel to Navy and supplier facilities may be required.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Marine, Civil, or Engineering
  • 5+ years of postgraduate engineering experience
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred:

  • Advanced Degree
  • Experience working with suppliers/subcontractors
  • A diverse knowledge of electrical engineering concepts
