Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Software Database Engineer with hands-on experience in database engineering, systems administration and debugging for a fast-paced, growing, dynamic position at our location in Aurora, Colorado.
 

Software Database Engineer Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, document, test, and debug software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems.

  • Apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle.

  • Diagnose problems encountered during application integration among products and address fixes/enhancements according to prescribed program processes.

  • Familiarity with developing application software in a Linux environment, using relational databases, and knowledge of client – server applications will help set the candidate up for success. 

  • The candidate will be working in an extremely dynamic and challenging environment on a day-to-day basis.                       
        

In addition, the candidate must be a team player, able to work comfortably and effectively with company team members as well as program stakeholders and DoD contractor personnel using strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal/Level 3: Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline and 5 years of related experience, OR Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience, OR STEM PhD and 1 year of related experience.

  • Sr. Principal/Level 4: Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline and 8 years of related experience, OR Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related experience, OR STEM PhD and 4 year of related experience.

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph at time of application.

  • Experience with design and implementation of data warehousing technologies including relational and nonrelational databases, SQL, and data analytics

  • Experience implementing Oracle Grid Infrastructure, Oracle database and PostgreSQL database systems running on Linux.

  • Experience in full lifecycle project development.

  • Experience with scripting languages such bash, PLSQL and/or Python for crafting efficient automation scripts and executing database operations.

  • Experience working on Agile Teams.

  • Security+ Certification.

  • Experience documenting design, processes, and procedures.

  • Experience with CI/CD Pipeline, Bitbucket, Git, Jira.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in implementing automation solutions using Ansible to support distribution and operational processes.

  • Experience working with DevOps processes, i.e., Ansible, VMWare, Kubernetes (containers), deployment experience.

  • Systems administration experience, to include Windows, Linux, and VM environments.

  • Master of Science in Engineering or other STEM discipline.

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
