You will serve as a DIVISION MANAGER in the ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.
Major duties
You will promote readiness and maintenance in shipboard systems and equipment by providing facilities and manpower to effect routine and complex repairs. You will organize, direct, and evaluate the performance of a workforce composed of approximately 100 engineers, technicians, military and clerical personnel. You will determine resource needs of the division, allocate personnel resources between the branches according to workload and technical demands, and account for their effective use. You will determine the need for and develop plans for organizational changes which have major impacts such as those involving basic departmental structure, operating costs, and key positions. You will assist in the planning of current and future departmental budget in support of the overall command and total fleet repair budget. You will communicate and coordinate efforts with external organizations involved with broad aspects of shipboard systems and to resolve major issues of funding, workload, or interrelationships. You will establish goals and objectives for the division, aligning with department and command goals and objectives, and its branches developing plans for accomplishment of these goals, and measure progress toward the goals. You will work with a variety of programs that require an evaluation of highly complex problems. You will assess the impact on shipboard systems when substantive developments in related programs and policies occur. You will provide the proper leadership direction and instruction in formulating proper responses with associated risk and options.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Overseeing a workforce, projects, or programs that assess, troubleshoot, test, repair, maintain, or modernize ships or ships systems.
