You will serve as a Planner & Estimator (Sheet Metal Mechanic) [Aircraft] in the MRO F/A-18 Production Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER WEST located at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California.
Major duties
You will estimate and negotiate scope of work and workload requirements to support depot level repair requirements for external fleet activities. You will act as a principal command liaison with external activities and provide on-site planner and estimator condition inspections, special inspections, and specific rework requirements on assigned aircraft. You will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the workload schedules for induction of aircraft within the on/off station emergency aircraft repair programs. You will prepare disposition reports, plans, and estimates in support of aircraft program goals and objectives. You will establish maximum requirements, establish delivery dates, determine material availability, and estimate material and manhour requirements. You will develop and estimate cost for the manufacture of sheet metal parts, including tooling and assemblies required for the modification of aircraft, engines, components and support equipment. You will be required to have regular and predictable attendance, which is an essential function of this position.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION, and includes the following: 1) Developing and estimating costs for the manufacture of sheet metal parts, including tooling and assemblies required for the modification of aircraft, engines, components, and support equipment; 2) Planning, estimating, coordinating, and scheduling sheet metal manufacturing plans for assigned aircraft components, aircraft, aircraft engines/components/accessories, avionics, and ground support equipment; 3) Utilizing sheet metal trade knowledge to provide cost effective solutions for efficient trade processes and techniques; and 4) Developing, planning, and laying out sheet metal component fabrication work from blueprints, sketches, job orders, specifications, or maintenance instructions.
