Job summary

About the Position: Serves as a Senior Electronics Technician responsible for test, evaluation, electronic calibration and alignment, and overall maintenance of complex, integrated Air Traffic Control (ATC) electronic systems. Located at the Army Airfield in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Major duties

Maintain detailed official facility maintenance logs and certification logs as a legal record as required by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)/Army regulatory mandated. Perform independent on-site testing, analysis, electronic alignment, repair and legal certification of complex systems, equipment and services for use in air traffic control. Participate in official FAA flight inspections of Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems - evaluating the resulting reference data for potential action. Oversee an extensive and detailed maintenance management program to include scheduling inspections, recording test equipment set-up and technical parameters, execution of maintenance management logistics, facility safety, etc. Provide on-the-job training to less experienced technicians.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) Maintaining and certifying complex Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems to ensure safe and reliable operation; 2) Leading equipment upgrades and system modifications to improve performance; AND 3) Managing maintenance programs and trained personnel on Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
