About the Position: The Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Space Force & Coast Guard; meets the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the DoD & the military services. Every MEPS represents state of the art in testing, examining & processing applicants for enlistment into the Armed Forces.
Major duties
As a Lead Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation), you will: Coach, facilitate, resolve work problems and participate in the work of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) Processing Element. Certify that enlistment has been properly conducted by verifying system displayed contract is complete and all additional disclosed information has been supplied to the service representative. Provide routine technical assistance or training to users of automated personnel database systems. Greet applicants, track enrollment, movement, and processing progress. Provide input to supervisor on performance, progress, and training needs of employees, and on disciplinary problems Perform Human Resources Assistant duties identical to those led.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Providing administrative/clerical support to a reception-administration control desk for the organization; 2) Questioning applicants to obtain and/or verify that data required for final data processing of forms/records is complete; 3) Performing records management of electronic and/or paper applicant records; 4) Entering data into automated system(s) to record applicant processing information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Typing Proficiency: In addition to meeting the above qualifications, applicants will need to self-certify their typing proficiency. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Candidates in this category possess exceptional skills and experience to exceed well above the minimum requirements for the announced position. Highly Qualified. Candidates in this category possess good skills and experience above the minimum requirements for the announced position. Qualified. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP). If you are a Federal employee in the competitive service and your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority for this position. To receive selection priority, you must: (1) meet ICTAP eligibility criteria (2) be rated well-qualified for the position and; (3) submit the appropriate documentation to support your ICTAP eligibility. To be considered well-qualified and receive selection priority applicants must satisfy all qualification requirements for the position and receive a score of 90 or above.
