The Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member’s suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.

Job Description

Provides technical assistance in all aspects of the setup, de-prep and testing of development engines.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Interface with external organizations & internal supporting functions; coordinates the efforts of project team members in order to accomplish overall goals
  • Act as a project leader on specific tasks within the Development Engine Test
  • Facilitate interaction of staff members with each other and external organizations
  • Periodically prepare and implement supporting work plans
  • Coordinate, direct, and coach the activities of project team members
  • Assist the cell owner, team leader, or manager in planning work activity for the organization
  • Participate in Cell / Lab Safety Deep Dives & PQA Audits
  • Responsible for overall safety & operational readiness of the test cells
  • Defining / Maintaining area Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and other operating / safety practices and procedures
  • Support and perform work in compliance to all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, policies and regulations
  • Work under limited supervision while being proficient in troubleshooting, testing, assembly, disassembly and performing visual inspections
  • Periodically prepare and implement supporting work plans to update equipment to enhance test cell capabilities
  • Execute test on the control console (throttle, slave systems, FTS, A-log)
  • Perform signal checks / test preparation checks
  • Participate in Process Improvement projects
  • Perform inspections on engine and test equipment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in an applicable technical discipline from an accredited school or institution {i.e. Aviation Maintenance, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Technology, Chemical Technology, etc.} Or a high school diploma / GED with two years of work experience in a manufacturing or testing environment
