Job summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Civilian of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The incumbent serves as a Guard Supervisor for the Security Guard force assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander on USAG Natick.

Major duties

Supervise groups of workers through one or more levels of subordinate supervisors. Assign work in terms of organizational objectives and special assignments, set priorities, and deadlines. Ensure that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed. Plan and coordinate the activities of two shifts of security guards. Perform managerial and administrative duties relating to the security guard force.

Qualification

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience with a federal, state, municipal, local, or private protective organization (1) planning the activities of a security guard force shift, (2) performing access control or visitor control center operations, (3) administering training to ensure personnel are equipped to protect against threats to property and personnel, and (4) performing supervisory duties to include interviewing candidates for employment, evaluating employee performance, and providing recommendations for leave approval and disciplinary action. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed equivalent to the next lower grade/position in Federal Service (GS-08).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
