Job summary

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies through the DHA for Domestic Def Ind Base Facilities & Major Range/Test Facilities Base in DOD. Major duties

You will overhaul, repair, test oxygen breathing regulators, support equipment regulators, aircraft oxygen, fire extinguisher and ground support equipment pressure gages and capacity gages. You will overhaul, repair, and test aircraft liquid oxygen components such as, pressure switches, pressure opening and closing valves, shut off valves, check valves, regulators, and converters. You will utilize all types of special and standard hand tools in order to test air conditioning and heating ducts, aircraft fuel ducts and engine bleed air ducts. You will read and interpret written instructions, blueprints, and various manuals as you repair, test, calibrate and maintain assigned components and equipment.

Qualification

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Operating test equipment such as oxygen test stands and oxygen system component test stands; 2) Replacing inlet valves, demand valves, aneroid and flow indicators; 3) Selecting proper equipment and tooling are being used in the repair of oxygen systems; 4) Disassembling, cleaning, overhauling, repairing, testing and installing aircraft oxygen and related components; and 5) Reviewing work orders, technical manuals, specifications, drawings and blueprints to ensure aircraft and components methods are being employed. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
