Facilities Operations Mechanic

Purpose and Scope The Facilities Operations Mechanic plays a key role as part of a multi-skilled team to maintain facility infrastructure and systems at the Joint Defense Facility Pine Gap (JDFPG). This includes technical repair and maintenance, planning, organization, coordination, scheduling, training, mentoring, and resource management. The Facilities Operations Mechanic is responsible for ensuring high service levels through efficient and effective maintenance of assigned equipment, maximizing productivity, and reliability.

Qualifications

· Essential: Certificate III in Light and/or Heavy Diesel Repair.

· Desirable: Experience with diesel power generation, general mechanical maintenance, field service mechanical fitting/technician roles, and mine site maintenance/repair.

· Minimum 4 years of post-trade experience.

· Experience with a diverse range of plant and equipment is highly regarded.

· Demonstrated understanding of utilities technical environments, familiarity with electrical distribution, HVAC, plumbing, and knowledge of SAP or willingness to learn.

Tickets and Licenses

· Essential: Driver's License.

· Desirable: White Card, Confined Space, Working at Heights, Forklift License, Elevated Work Platform, First Aid.

Experience and Skills

· Proven ability in field service maintenance and repair.

· Relevant experience in a facilities environment and leadership/supervision.

· Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on utilities equipment.

· Ability to fabricate and install equipment for projects.

· Strong understanding of technical terminology, plans, and documents.

· Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

· Demonstrated customer focus and commitment to workplace diversity and EH&S principles.

Work Environment and Demands Personnel must be medically fit for the role, able to lift and operate necessary tools, and navigate physically restrictive plant access points. The role requires swift movement between various site components without health impacts.

Security Clearance Requirement Employment at JDFPG requires obtaining and retaining an NV1 (Yellow Badge) Department of Defense Security Clearance (Australian) or SSBI (TS/SCI) US Department of Defense clearance.
