The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a technical instructor and courseware developer for aircraft maintenance courses. This position functions as a subject matter expert for the analysis, design, development, implementation, execution, and evaluation of training.
Major duties
Conducts on-equipment, classroom, and computer-based instruction. Plans, coordinates, designs, and validates major components of aircraft maintenance training course material. Develops, reviews, and revises aircraft maintenance training instructional materials in accordance with established learning objectives. Plans, coordinates, designs, and validates measurement devices. Works to meet quality standards and supports process improvement in all products and services.
Qualification
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Training Instruction Series 1712 + IOR. BASIC REQUIREMENT: ***THIS IS A CCAF POSITION***Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. all teachers must hold at least an associate's degree in order for the school to meet accreditation criteria. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); Supervising or administering a training program; Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B or J.D. with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: l. Knowledge of, and skilled in instructional methods, principles, and techniques in order to deliver training courses and assess course effectiveness in meeting identified course objectives. 2. Knowledge of aircraft procedures associated with, line replaceable units, aircraft maintenance, theory of operation, common test equipment, aerospace ground equipment, common tool usage, Air Force technical orders, safety, security, management and maintenance directives. 3. Knowledge of instructional design and materials development to include use of technology for design and delivery of training. 4. Knowledge of, and skilled in developing course materials and instructional methods, principles, and techniques in order to develop training courses, obtain training resources, and assess overall effectiveness in order to meet identified training requirements for Aircraft Maintenance. 5. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to maintain a positive working relationship with management, classroom participants, and peers. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
