The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to AF/A10P.
Major duties
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of AF/A10P, ensuring that Nuclear Policy and Strategy Division complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Represents Deputy Chief of Staff, Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Conducts comprehensive analysis of US nuclear strategy and guidance documents to ensure Air Force policy and guidance remains relevant, current and aligned with national direction. Identifies resources needed and establishes milestones and goals.

Conditions of Employment Continued: Position is designated Special Sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. This position is designed as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions present a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. Ability to plan, organize, develop studies or projects and to effectively communicate with management to accept and implement recommendations, where the proposals involve substantial Air Force resources, require extensive changes in established concepts and procedures, or may be in conflict with previous programming actions. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions- Miscellaneous Administration & Program (0301). SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 (or higher) grade level or equivalent pay systems (may have been obtained in the federal service, military, or public sector). My experience includes Knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations, executive orders, policies, and concepts governing various federal civilian personnel disciplines and, in particular, those pertaining to staffing, placement, and Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Programs; Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO principles, regulations, practices, and procedures. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-14 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-15 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations, executive orders, policies, and concepts governing various federal civilian personnel disciplines and, in particular, those pertaining to staffing, placement, and Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Programs. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO principles, regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the functions, work operations, and staff of a small to medium sized organization, coordinating and integrating the work activities of several organizational segments and/or several different projects. Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing; train and work with widely diverse individuals and groups; and represent the activity to gain support for program goals, both within and outside the organization. Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems and develop timely and economical solutions, working out solutions to problems and/or questions relating to work. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
