Job summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SUPV ITSPEC (PLCYPLN), Position Description Number PDD1769000 and is part of the 153d Communications Squadron, Wyoming Air National Guard. This is a Title 32 Dual Status Technician Excepted Service position. Military affiliation is required.
Major duties
This position is located in the 153d Communications Squadron (153 CS), 153d Mission Support Group (153 MSG) of the 153d Airlift Wing (153 AW), Wyoming Air National Guard (ANG). As the Superintendent, the incumbent coordinates with Department of Defense (DoD), United States Air Force (USAF), Major Commands (MAJCOMS), National Guard Bureau (NGB), Wing/Base, and other activities to procure, distribute, maintain, and replace requirements for telecommunications and information technology infrastructure. Ensures compliance with applicable ANG, USAF, and MAJCOMS directives, policies, and tasking, for both wartime and peacetime requirements. Identifies funding and other additional requirements to NGB to ensure they are programmed in the next funding cycle. Accountable for directing the information and data integrity of all base and tenant organizations, as well as geographically separated units (GSUs) and all communications and information functions. Provides guidance and direction to the Communications Squadron through planning, coordinating, and directing a variety of functions including; maintenance, logistics plans, supply, multimedia, quality control, production control, ground radio, telecommunications, software test analysis, all data centers, technical service centers, help desks, communication networks (voice and data), network control centers, plans and programs, local computer program development and computer systems operations. Responsible for maintaining the integrity of all electronic and optical books and records of the 153 AW including review of computerized and manual systems, information processing equipment and software, and definition of the strategic direction of all information processing and communication systems and operations. Through subordinate supervisors in the Information Systems function and Information Transport function, directs and supervises staff and production functions affecting very complex high-performance equipment with a wide variety of high cost, sophisticated systems. Responsible for all technical support and maintenance activities to include computer and telephone technical support, radio maintenance, secure communications maintenance, and support equipment maintenance. KEY REQUIREMENTS: Open to Air Force, AF Reserves, and Air Nat'l Guard military members only. Must become a member of the Wyoming Air Nat'l Guard before appt. Must submit vMPF Rip/Data Verification Rip with application. Must be able to obtain AFSC 1D771, Cyber System Operations, to qualify. May be required to successfully complete a 1-year trial/probationary period. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: Technicians are paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT). Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses. Acceptance of a Technician position will terminate these military incentives. Qualification
AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: Referrals of qualified applicants will be as follows: Area 1: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming National Guard (NG) WY ANG employees assigned to the 153 CS. Area 2: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming Air National Guard (ANG) T32 Dual Status technicians employed within the Wyoming Air National Guard. Area 4: All current military members of the Wyoming Air National Guard. Area 6: Current and prior service military members to include the US Air Force, Air Force Reserves, and other states' Air National Guard units. Must be willing/eligible to join the Wyoming Air National Guard as a military member prior to appointment to position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least one year of experience, education, or training or equivalent to a GS-11 that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion. AND Must possess experience in managing the function of the work to be performed; and experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. NOTE: Specialized Experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. IA Management Category Level III (IAM-III) Training Requirements Within 6 months of assignment of IA duties all military and government civilian IAM personnel must achieve and maintain IA Baseline Certification unless a waiver is granted. An individual needs to obtain only one of the "approved certifications" for IAM-III to meet the minimum requirement. CCISO: Certified Chief Information Security CISM: Certified Information Security Manager Certification CISSP: Certified Information Systems Security Professional Certification GSLC: Global Information Assurance Certification Security Essentials Leadership Certificate Include a copy of certification if already completed with application. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: Must be able to obtain AFSC 1D7X1, Cyber System Operations Enlisted 1D7X1 ASVAB Requirements: Must possess a minimum score of "45" on the Mechanical AND a minimum score of "60" on the Electronics portions of the ASVAB.
