Job summary
Who May Apply: Current permanent DFAS employees in the competitive service, eligible DoD PPP Military Spouse preference applicants, and current DFAS VRA employees.
Major duties
Develops and revises operating methods and procedures to reduce postal costs. Conducts audits and internal reviews to correct operational deficiencies, prevent fraud waste and abuse and improve efficiency of the operation. Serves as the Accountable Property Book Officer for all accountable property. Develops and trains mail room employees on the proper procedures for handling incoming mail. Incumbent is the site records manager, and will implement the records management program according to agency instructions.
Qualification
Human Resources will determine your qualifications for each entry grade level based on your interest and the additional following criteria. Combinations of education and experience may also be sufficient. One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized Experience Is Defined As: Coordinating a variety of support programs to include but not limited to postal program, copier program, safety, security, contingency planning, warehousing, procurement, facilities; collecting information related to workflow, office procedures, and control systems in support of program evaluations; and identifying solutions to administrative problems. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a (GS-07) or higher grade in Federal Service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
Education
GS-09 Substitution of Education for Experience: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. If you are using education to substitute for the specialized experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (http://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/index.html).
