Job summary

You will serve as the Supervisory Textile Technologist in the Uniform and Certification Group (NCTRF01) of the NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND.

Major duties

You will serve as a Senior Project Leader, Scientist, and Supervisor for the Uniform and Certification Group (NCTRF01) at the Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility (NCTRF). You will plan, conduct, and/or coordinate major programs of broad scope in the area of uniforms and protective clothing. You will direct, plan, and execute research, development, design, test and evaluation program for uniforms, protective clothing, materials, and textiles. You will provide supervision, direction, and oversight of Clothing Designers and Textile Technologists. You will serve as a Technical Warrant Holder for Naval Uniforms.

Qualification

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Textile Technologist with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. I have experience applying professional knowledge of protective clothing and equipment design and fabrication, fabrics and materials, fabric construction, and production methodology to develop protective clothing, and equipment which meet required levels of performance or mission compatibility/requirements. Specialized experience must include the following: 1) Advising on the adequacy of materials, and designs based on test and evaluation results, specification, and pattern modifications to provide final approval and transition items for procurement or production; 2) Planning, developing, directing, and preparing new and modified protective clothing designs and/or specifications; 3) Initiating projects that will improve the protection, design, fit, serviceability, quality and wear acceptance of uniforms, protective ensembles, accessories, and equipment; 4) Reviewing specifications against requirements to coordinate pattern and sample development to ensure proper construction with current manufacturing processes; 5) Establishing and maintaining a working relationship with applicable academia, industry, and government associates. Education
