Major duties

Supervise professional and technical staff and oversee contractor personnel. Plan, assign, and review work. Guide, advise, coach, teach, and empower individuals and teams Provide effective leadership by setting organizational direction and communicating clear values, high performance expectations, a strong customer focus, and commitment to continual learning and improvement Ensure each project is developed and managed to obligated funds within the required time constraints. Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate programs for conservation and natural resources management, to include wildland fire, endangered species, fish and wildlife, inventory, monitoring, permitting, and compliance activities Oversee a program for the conservation of listed plant species Prepare a variety of documents, to include correspondence, reports, briefing slides, and policy statements

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for a Supervisory Natural Resources Specialist: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing environmental programs to comply with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Endangered Species Act (ESA); preparing and reviewing environmental documentation and permits for compliance; and determining the impact of proposed projects on the environment and natural resources. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or above). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Environmental Law and Regulatory Compliance Managing Human Resources Natural Resource Management Reading Comprehension Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
