Job summary
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INTERDISCIPLINARY (PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/ OCEANOGRAPHY) in the NAVAL INFORMATION TRAINING GROUP, INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM of NAVMETOCPRODEVCEN.
Major duties
You will serve as the Director of the International Education Program (IEP) and as the Hydrographic/Geophysics Subject Matter Expert (SME). You will be responsible for planning, developing, organizing, and assessing course materials in hydrographic surveying, geodetic surveying; photogrammetry and nautical chart compilation. You will be responsible for planning, developing, organizing, and assessing the procedures for acquisition, storage, retrieval, reduction, display, analysis, reproduction, and dissemination of hydrographic and cartographic data. You will provide evaluation, oversight, management, and procurement of all equipment, software/licenses, educational and technical references, study materials, and supplies. You will research, identify, and supervise the acquisition of materials and textbooks used in the courses and provide the necessary materials and support services to other instructors. You will execute service/equipment contracts to support the needs of the International Hydrographic Management and Engineering Program (IHMEP). You will track expenditures, maintain financial documentation, execute funding in compliance with fiscal regulations, and perform course costing analysis to adjust tuition costs as necessary. You will routinely engage with international partners to build and sustain relationships in support of the international Hydrographic Management and Engineering Program (IHMEP).
Qualification
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience serving as a Hydrographic/Geophysics Subject Matter Expert (SME). Experience assisting in planning classroom and field hydrography and hydrographic surveying operations. Experience presenting detailed technical written reports, analyses, and oral presentations regarding hydrography and hydrographic surveying. Experience planning, conducting and interpreting studies that evaluate and predict program achievements, student performance, and results. Experience tracking expenditures and maintaining financial documentation. Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: General Physical Science Series, 1301 Individual Occupational Requirements Basic Requirements: Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. or Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Oceanography Series 1360 Individual Occupational Requirements Basic Requirements: Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences. or Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Applicants who qualify on the basis of major study in biology or geology must have had at least 6 semester hours in the major directly concerned with marine science or 6 semester hours in oceanography; applicants who qualify on the basis of other physical sciences or engineering must have had differential and integral calculus and at least 6 semester hours in physics.
